The Downside to Life in a Supertall Tower: Leaks, Creaks, Breaks
Feb 12th, 2021

Oh the poetry. You can be a billionaire and live in the penthouse overlooking Central Park. And, have water leaking from the ceiling, get stuck for hours in the elevator, be terrified at night from the howling, swaying building in the wind.

$76,000 Birkinstocks Made From Actual Birkin Bags
Feb 12th, 2021

"The most exclusive sandal ever made" is a Birkenstock-like piece of footwear with an official Birkenstock cork-and-rubber sole, but with a leather upper made from purposefully chopped-up Hermès Birkin bags. Shock, horror, fashion sacrilege!

Zero Waste Home
Feb 12th, 2021

I've been reading the book Zero Waste Home by Bea Miller, which I received as a gift from a friend. It's filled with ideas to reduce waste in all areas of one's life, which I've been gradually trying to incorporate into my own routine. For me, it's really helped break down the task of moving towards a more environmentally friendly lifestyle into bite size, more attainable pieces.

NASA Graphics Standards Manual
Feb 5th, 2021

I wanted to share the link to a gift I received this past Christmas—it's a beautiful printed manual of the NASA brand guidelines for the 1970's Danne & Blackburn design work. I was particularly moved by the foreword by Richard Danne and accompanying essay by Christopher Bonanos. The story of creating and selling through the design system is equally inspiring and heartbreaking. Highly recommend checking it out!

It's full of practical and realistic ways to improve your daily habits, makings small increments over a long period of time.

@here_ceramic by @here_meee pka Mihee Kim
Feb 5th, 2021

I wanted to share my ceramic works from last year November till now. I go to my studio about 2-3times a week, and spend 2-4hours making little things. I mostly do hand build because I get more freedom and control in shapes I can make. Making miniature food has been fun. The big two legged vase is my favorite so far!

Unilever says no to 'normal' with new positive beauty vision
Mar 12th, 2021

Finally, a big business like Unilever is making a push for inclusivity across their wide range of brands. They announced this week that they will stop using the word normal on all hair and skin products (because what is "normal" anyway!?) + they will stop altering model's shapes, size, or skin color. From a strategy perspective, I love to see this. I hope many more brands follow suit!

NUGGS
Feb 26th, 2021

Nuggs has a really interesting take on food branding. Their vintage-tech aesthetic combined with funny memes really makes them stand out. If you check out their website, you can play snake catching non-chicken nuggets.

Elizabeth Cotten & Brenda Evans - Shake Sugaree
Feb 19th, 2021

My awakening to the sound of Elizabeth Cotten. Not sure how I missed this. Did I miss it? Well, I found it now. Heard this sometime ago and assumed it would follow me around. Heard it again this morning and I realized I should grab on before it hides away again. Now I'll never not know. Shake Sugaree

Clubhouse May Be Social Media's Future. What's All The Hype About?
Feb 12th, 2021

Clubhouse is an audio-only app where friends and strangers alike hold court on all kinds of conversations. Users peruse the app's "hallway" and drop into virtual "rooms" to listen in as moderators and guests talk — and there's no telling what might you eavesdrop on.
